چکیده

Here we analyze how the angular momenta (spins) of black holes in the centers of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) affect the shape of the FeKα line emitted from their accretion disks. For that purpose, we compared the observed line profile in the case of radio galaxy 3C 405 (Cygnus A) with its profiles, obtained by numerical simulations based on ray-tracing method in the Kerr metric. Our results show that the spins of rotating central black holes of AGN have significant influence on their FeKα line shapes. Also, we found that in the case of Cygnus A the observed line is probably emitted from the innermost region of its slightly inclined accretion disk around very slowly rotating or even stationary central black hole.

Baltic Astronomy, vol. 20, 442–447, 2011 OPTICAL EMISSION LINES AND THE X-RAY PROPERTIES OF TYPE 1 SEYFERT GALAXIES

In this contribution we report on the study of the optical emission lines and X-ray spectra of a sample of Type 1 AGNs, collected from the SDSS database and observed by the XMM-Newton satellite. Using different instruments onboard XMM, we identify the spectral components of the soft and hard energy bands (in the range from 0.3 keV to 10 keV). The properties of the X-ray continuum and of the Fe ...

Correlated modulation between the redshifted Fe K α line and the continuum emission in NGC 3783

Aims. It has been suggested that X-ray observations of rapidly variable Seyfert galaxies may hold the key to probe the gas orbital motions in the innermost regions of accretion discs around black holes and, thus, trace flow patterns under the effect of the hole strong gravitational field. Methods. We explore this possibility by re-analyzing the multiple XMM-Newton observations of the Seyfert 1 ...

On the influence of resonant absorption on the iron emission line profiles from accreting black holes

The fluorescent iron Kα emission line profile provides an excellent probe of the innermost regions of active galactic nuclei. Fe XXV and Fe XXVI in diffuse plasma above the accretion disc can affect the X-ray spectrum by iron Kα resonant absorption. This in turn can influence the interpretation of the data and the estimation of the accretion disc and black hole parameters. We embark on a fully ...

A longer XMM - Newton look at I Zwicky 1 : Variability of the X - ray continuum , absorption , and iron K α line

We present the second XMM-Newton observation (85ks) of the narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy (NLS1) I Zw 1 and describe its mean spectral and timing characteristics. On average, I Zw 1 is ∼ 35 per cent dimmer in 2005 than in the shorter (20 ks) 2002 observation. Between the two epochs the intrinsic absorption column density diminished, but there were also subtle changes in the continuum shape. Consi...

XMM - Newton observations of the heavily absorbed Seyfert 1 galaxy IC 4329 A

We detect seven distinct absorbing systems in the high-resolution X-ray spectrum of the Seyfert 1 galaxy IC 4329A, taken with XMM-Newton. Firstly we detect absorption due to cold gas in our own Galaxy and warm gas in the Galactic halo or the Local Group. This local warm gas is only detected through O VII absorption, from which we deduce a temperature between 0.03 and 0.2 keV. In IC 4329A we det...
